One of the top prospects in the Boston Bruins organization is making the jump to professional hockey.
Defenceman Charlie McAvoy will sign an amateur tryout agreement with Boston’s AHL affiliate in Providence according to general manager Don Sweeney.
McAvoy was drafted 14th overall in 2016, and recently completed his second year at Boston University, posting five goals and 26 points in 38 games.
He was an alternate captain on the United States world junior team which won a gold medal this winter.
If all goes well, the Providence Bruins could have McAvoy in their lineup this weekend.
