There are few things we can say with more certainty than this: Rick Nash will be traded prior to the NHL Trade Deadline.
The unknown here has been whose sweater he’ll be donning down the stretch. But according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Blueshirts’ veteran could soon be sporting black and gold.
“News breaking tonight, the Boston Bruins appear to be the leading candidate for Rick Nash,” Friedman said during Saturday’s Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada. “They’re definitely in. They will have to probably make other moves to clear salary, but it looks like it’s the Bruins as the No. 1 contender for Nash.”
Nash, a pending UFA, has been a healthy scratch for the soon-to-be-rebuilding Rangers’ past two games as the club prepares to trade him to a contender. The winger has a modified no-move clause that requires him to submit a 12-team trade list, and the Bruins — currently sitting comfortably in the playoff picture — certainly fits the bill.
Nash, 33, has 18 goals and 28 points through 60 games this season.
