BOSTON — The Boston Bruins signed head coach Claude Julien to a contract extension Friday.
Julien won the Jack Adams award last season as the NHL’s best coach for guiding the Bruins to the top of the Eastern Conference. Boston finished 53-19-10 for 116 points.
The Bruins are 94-48-22 in two seasons under Julien.
The Bruins have found success under Julien. The 49-year-old native of Blind River, Ont., led the team to the opening round of the playoffs in his first season, then took them to the semifinals last season for the first time in ten years.
Julien spent three seasons as coach in Montreal, before moving to New Jersey for part of the 2006-07 season.
He is 213-134-10-45 in his NHL coaching career.
