Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron leaves game after taking puck to leg

Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron is unable to skate off himself after taking a Matt Niskanen shot off his inner leg, close to his knee.

Boston Bruins centre Patrice Bergeron left Wednesday’s game after taking a one-timed slap shot to the inside of his leg.

He returned to the ice briefly before leaving a second time for good.

Bergeron was killing a penalty when he blocked a shot from Washington’s Matt Niskanen. The puck appeared to make contact with the inside of his knee or leg.

The three-time Selke-winner has 12 goals and 26 points in 51 games this season.
