Bruins’ Zdeno Chara left bloodied after taking puck to face in Game 4

Zdeno Chara would be shaken up and bloodied after taking a puck to the face in the second period of Game 4.

Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara was left bloodied after taking a puck to the face in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final against the St. Louis Blues.

Chara was attempting to get the puck early in the second period on Monday when Brayden Schenn’s shot tipped off Chara’s stick and into his cheek.

The 42-year-old veteran defenceman got up on his own and skated to the Boston bench while a trainer placed a towel on his face.

Chara, who has one goal and three assists in 19 playoff games, returned for the start of the third period wearing a full cage.

St. Louis won Game 4 and evened the best-of-seven series 2-2.
