Sabres’ new jersey ‘leaked,’ slammed by fans

Steve Ott unveils the Buffalo Sabres' new alternate sweater in advance of training camp.

Steve Ott “leaked” the Buffalo Sabres new alternate sweater design Wednesday, and the response was both swift and unfavourable:

For weeks the Sabres have been teasing fans through social media with close-up pictures of swatches from their forthcoming new third uniform in attempt to heighten anticipation. After the Sabres tweeted an image of a patch of blue Wednesday, Ott tweeted his (scripted?) frustration, and then — egads! — got his hands on one of the new sweaters to share with the fans:

The predominantly yellow sweater with cape-like blue backing drew a nearly unanimous thumbs-down via social media. Still, they’re much better than the infamous and regrettable slug outfits.

(Side note: Ott’s role in the unveiling raises my sneaking suspicion that Buffalo is making the personable enforcer the face of the franchise. Could captaincy be in the offing?)
