Granted it’s a long shot, but hockey fans could witness the first all-glow-in-the-dark-mask Eastern Conference final in the history of the game.
First, the New York Rangers would have to tear up Alex Ovechkin’s guarantee and win Game 7 Wednesday night, then starting goaltender Henrik Lundqvist would either have to get injured or get awful — and no one wishes that.
But — and it’s a big but — if all that happens, we could see Ben Bishop’s glowing face at one end of the rink and Cam Talbot’s neon mug at the other end during pre-game festivities.
Yes, Rangers backup Talbot has followed in Bishop’s artistic footprint and tapped DaveArt’s David Gunnarsson to splash some of his G.L.O.W Tech FX paint on his new bucket.
Arguably better than the glow-in-the-dark element here is this: It’s a freaking Ghostbusters mask.
“Slimer is big, he is sliming and drooling, and he looks very hungry,” explains Gunnarsson on his Facebook page. “Lucky for us Cam Talbot is also known as the ‘Goalbuster,’ so he can take care of the Slimer and get him rid off his face.”
Makes sense. Like cats and dogs living separately.
Note that Talbot’s new helmet is not to be confused with Lundqvist’s handsomeness, which also glows in the dark.
