Canadiens acquire defenceman Mike Reilly from Wild

The Montreal Canadiens didn’t deal Max Pacioretty at the trade deadline, instead opting for a smaller deal sending Joe Morrow to the Jets.

The Minnesota Wild have traded defenceman Mike Reilly to the Montreal Canadiens for a 2019 fifth-round draft pick.

Reilly was once a highly coveted college free agent after three seasons with the University of Minnesota.

The Columbus Blue Jackets drafted him in the fourth round in 2011, but couldn’t sign the offensive blueliner.

He has two goals and 10 points in 38 games with the Wild this season.

The pick sent to Minnesota originally belonged to the Washington Capitals.
