Canadiens agree to one-year, two-way contract for forward Alex Belzile

The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with forward Alex Belzile, the team announced Friday.

The deal will pay the Quebec native $700,000 at the NHL level and $175,000 in the AHL, with a guaranteed salary of $200,000.

Belzile, 27, led the Laval Rocket in 2018-19 in multiple areas, including goals (19), points (54), penalty minutes (80) and shots (179). He has previously played for the San Antonio Rampage and Hamilton Bulldogs.

Since debuting the AHL in 2012-13, Belzile has recorded 47 goals, 118 points and 203 penalty minutes. He signed an AHL contract with the Rocket as a free agent on July 1, 2018.
