Canadiens’ Andrew Shaw out indefinitely with lower-body injury

Brad Marchand scored on the fourth shootout attempt to ice the game as the Boston Bruins defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 at Bell Centre on Saturday. Phillip Danault was forced to leave the game after taking a slap shot to the side of the head.

Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury and will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days, the team announced Monday.

Shaw sustained the injury Saturday against the Boston Bruins. The exact nature and severity of the injury is unknown at this time.

The 26-year-old has 10 goals, nine assists, 47 penalty minutes and a minus-9 rating in 43 games this season.

Shaw wasn’t the only player the Canadiens lost over the weekend. Forward Phillip Danault was stretchered off the ice and taken to the hospital after taking a Zdeno Chara slap shot to the side of the head. It’s unclear at this point how much time Danault will miss.

In other Canadiens news, the team claimed centre Logan Shaw off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.
