Canadiens’ Brendan Gallagher misses practice with headache

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman joins Lead Off to discuss a couple of factors that has led to the Canadiens losing streak, and why he has that feeling that whether it’s a coaching change or big trade, “something is coming” from GM Marc Bergevin.

Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher missed practice Friday with a headache, one day after he returned to the lineup from a concussion.

Head coach Claude Julien said the club is evaluating Gallagher to see whether the headaches are from his concussion or a virus. His status for Saturday’s meeting with the Ottawa Senators is unclear for now.

Gallagher had four shots and no points in over 17 minutes of ice time in Thursday’s loss to the Edmonton Oilers. He was originally diagnosed with a concussion on Jan. 2 after being hit by Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal on Dec. 31.

In other Canadiens news, defenceman Ben Chiarot will miss his second consecutive game Saturday with a lower-body injury.
