Canadiens’ Galchenyuk out indefinitely with lower-body injury

Watch as Alex Galchenyuk collides with Anze Kopitar and leave the game with a lower body injury.

Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury, the team announced Monday.

Galchenyuk left Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings after colliding with Anze Kopitar (watch the play at the top of this post).

According to the club, the 22-year-old forward underwent medical testing in St. Louis on Monday, and will be further evaluated on Wednesday in Montreal.

The Canadiens will release another update on Galchenyuk’s status “later this week.”

The loss will certainly be felt by the Canadiens, as Galchenyuk is Montreal’s leader in both goals (nine) and points (23), and has found great chemistry with fellow forward Alexander Radulov.
