A clash between Atlantic Division rivals highlights the Tuesday NHL schedule as the Montreal Canadiens play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning as +125 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Montreal is coming off a decisive 6-3 win over the Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues on Saturday and has posted wins in six of seven home games since mid-March going into Tuesday night’s matchup at the Bell Centre.
The Canadiens have filled the net during their red-hot run on home ice, scoring six or more goals in four of their past six such outings. The team has also posted wins in four of seven when pegged as home underdogs, with the over prevailing in totals betting in each of those victories, according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
The Lightning continue a six-game road trip in Montreal sporting -150 odds despite enduring a somewhat slow start. Tampa Bay has fallen to defeat in three of its first five contests this season, capped by a 4-2 loss in Ottawa as -260 chalk on Saturday afternoon. However, the Lightning have posted wins in three of their past five visits to the Bell Centre, limiting the Canadiens to just 2.4 goals per game over that stretch.
Elsewhere on the Tuesday NHL odds, the Toronto Maple Leafs search for just their second victory in six home meetings with Minnesota since 2013 as they host the Wild as home favourites at sports betting sites, and the Calgary Flames try to snap a two-game slide as they return home to take on the Philadelphia Flyers as -155 favourites.
The Winnipeg Jets look to rebound from Sunday’s lopsided 7-2 loss to Pittsburgh as they host the Arizona Coyotes as -155 favourites, while Tuesday’s late game has the Vancouver Canucks taking on the surprising Detroit Red Wings as a -160 wager.
The Maple Leafs are coming off a 5-2 win in Detroit as -190 chalk on Saturday night, but have been dominated by Minnesota in recent years, going 2-8-1 in their past 11 meetings capped by a 4-3 loss at Scotiabank Arena on January 3. The Wild are coming off their first win of the season, a 2-0 victory in Ottawa on Monday.
The Flames have struggled to generate offense during a 2-3-1 start, averaging just 2.50 goals per game, and have posted just three wins in nine home dates since winning five straight in early March. The Canucks outscored opponents by an 11-4 margin while claiming victory in their first two home dates of the season, but have just one win in four home dates with Detroit.
