The Montreal Canadiens will be without two key contributors Saturday against the Boston Bruins.
Captain Max Pacioretty (lower body) and defenceman Victor Mete (hand) have both returned to Montreal for further evaluation.
Pacioretty has recorded 17 goals and 20 assists in 64 games this season, and was the subject of trade rumours for much of the year. The 19-year-old Mete has been effective in his rookie campaign, registering seven assists in 49 games.
Montreal called up recently acquired defenceman Rinat Valiev from the AHL’s Laval Rocket post-game on Friday. He will join the team in Boston on Saturday.
Nicolas Deslauriers and Logan Shaw will be available for the Canadiens against the Bruins.
