Canadiens’ Phil Danault takes puck to face, won’t return vs. Coyotes

Phillip Danault had to be helped off the ice after a puck deflected right into his face.

Montreal Canadiens forward Phil Danault didn’t return to play Monday night after taking a puck to the face against the Arizona Coyotes.

Danault was struck by a Tomas Tatar shot early in the second period (video above) as he was standing in front of the Coyotes net. A Montreal trainer was seen holding a towel to the side of his face as he skated off the ice.

He assisted on Montreal’s second goal of the game by Brendan Gallagher and played 6:51.

The 26-year-old has 12 goals and 27 assists in 57 games this season.
