Canadiens recall Charlie Lindgren on emergency basis

Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien comments on Carey Price being out of the lineup with the sniffles.

The Montreal Canadiens recalled goaltender Charlie Lindgren from the AHL’s Laval Rocket on an emergency basis.

Canadiens starter Carey Price was ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins due to a battle with the flu. Antti Niemi draws the start against Pittsburgh with Lindgren set to serve as his backup.

Lindgren appeared in 14 games with the Canadiens in 2017-18, posting a 3.03 goals-against average and .908 save percentage. In three games with Laval this season, the 24-year-old has surrendered seven goals on 56 shots.
