McCarron was Montreal’s first-round pick (25th overall) in 2013, but failed to produce in the NHL level, recording just eight points in 69 games over three seasons. The 24-year-old has five goals and nine points in 29 games with the AHL’s Laval Rocket this season.
Dauphin, a 24-year-old native of Repentigny, Que., was a second-round pick with the Arizona Coyotes in 2013. He signed a two-way contract with the Predators in February 2019, after just 35 games played over four years at the NHL level.
The Canadiens announced that Dauphin will report to Laval following the trade. He’s posted seven goals and 16 points with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals this season.
