Montreal Canadiens coach Jacques Martin says defenceman Jaroslav Spacek will have arthroscopic surgery on his knee and will be out between four-to-six weeks. This timeline should see Spacek return during the first round of playoffs.
Spacek saw Dr. James Andrews yesterday, who advised him to have a scope rather than major surgery. No word yet on exactly when the surgery will take place or who will perform it.
The Czech defenceman said he first suffered the injury from a knee-on-knee hit in the Canadiens win over the Panthers on Feb. 2 but he continued to play. The injury worsened when the Canadiens beat the Leafs on February 12.
Spacek told reporters that he’s relieved it will only be four-to-six weeks and that he will be able to return in the post-season.
