Canadiens’ Tomas Tatar returning to Montreal for further evaluation

Elliotte Friedman joins Sid and Alex to break down the Ottawa Senators' fall out between Jim Little and Eugene Melnyk, as well as the pressure on Marc Bergevin and where his future lies.

Montreal Canadiens leading-scorer Tomas Tatar is returning to Montreal to be further evaluated for an upper-body injury.

Tatar suffered the injury in Tuesday’s win over the New York Islanders, although head coach Claude Julien said post-game that the decision to sit him for the rest of the game was precautionary. Lukas Vejdemo was recalled from AHL Laval to take Tatar’s place.

Tatar is in the middle of a career-best season with a team-high 22 goals and 61 points in 68 games.

In other Canadiens news, winger Brendan Gallagher missed the morning skate with an illness and is a game-time decision against the Lightning.

The Canadiens play in Tampa Bay Thursday night then finish their road trip Saturday against the Florida Panthers.
