Montreal Canadiens defenceman Victor Mete suffered a lower-body injury against the Detroit Red Wings and will not return to the game.
Mete was hurt in the second period after blocking a shot with his foot from the Red Wings’ Alex Biega. He left the game shortly after and did not return.
The injury comes in the same game that veteran defender Shea Weber returned from his own leg injury. The Canadiens also traded defenceman Marco Scandella to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.
In 51 games this season, the 21-year-old Mete has four goals, 11 points and a plus-four rating.
