The Vancouver Canucks have assigned defenceman Alex Biega to the Utica Comets of the AHL, the Comets announced Thursday.
Biega, 30, was placed on waivers by the Canucks on Oct. 14 and cleared without being claimed the following day.
The veteran defenceman has appeared in 138 NHL games with the Canucks, but none this season. He has two goals and 20 points in his NHL career.
