Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser is in concussion protocol after hitting his head on the boards during Monday’s pre-season game against the Ottawa Senators.
The recently signed winger was hit from behind by Senators centre Chris Tierney in the third period, but didn’t leave the game after colliding hard with the boards.
Vancouver announced that defenceman Oscar Fantenberg has also been placed in the concussion protocol. He took a hard hit from Senators Jordan Szwarz — who was called for boarding on the play — and laid on the ice for several minutes before leaving the game.
Neither Boeser nor Fantenberg skated with the Canucks on Tuesday.
It is unclear what the extent of the injuries is or how much time the players will miss as they go through this process.
The Canucks’ play the Senators on Wednesday and the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday to close out the pre-season.
