Comeback kids front and centre against Ducks

Brendan Morrison and Peter Schaefer will skate on a line together tonight when the Vancouver Canucks host the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Arena.

The two former Canucks are in camp on free agent tryouts and are hoping for a return to their flory days in B.C.

“We were sort of laughing about that ourselves a little bit getting dressed,” Morrison told the Vancouver Province after the pair skated together at practice on Friday. “It’s a little bit different situation than 2000 – when we were both pretty much cemented in the lineup – but we just have to deal with the present.”

Morrison is a local boy who centered one of the top lines in team history while Schaefer left town for Europe several years ago after getting into a contract dispute with the club.

“It’s weird for me and I’m sure it’s the same for Mo,” Schaefer told the paper. “The only other guys that were here when I was here last are the Sedins. So to see a familiar face every morning is very comforting.”
