Vancouver Canucks defenceman Alexander Edler suffered an upper-body injury against the Washington Capitals and will not return to action Saturday.

Further details on the severity of the injury have not been provided by the team at this time.

It is currently unclear what the definite cause of Edler’s injury was, but a collision between him and Capitals forward Travis Boyd — wherein a falling Boyd’s skate appeared to clip Edler — may have been a factor.

Edler, 33, has appeared in 23 games for the Canucks this season, scoring four goals and adding 11 assists.
