Canucks fan exposes Bruins’ hypocrisy

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand is targeted as a diver in a viral video titled "Embellishment City."

Leave it to a gigantic Vancouver Canucks fan to pounce upon Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien’s recent accusations of embellishment.

YouTube artist Makaveli, who is no stranger to ripping the Bruins through wit and careful editing, has racked up 30,000 views (and counting) overnight since he spliced Julien’s “embarrassing” embellishment rant — which the bench boss unleashed after Sunday’s tough loss the East-leading Montreal Canadiens — with images of his own Bruins diving to draw calls.

Some of the part-time actors Makaveli tries to expose: Shawn Thornton, Andrew Ference, and a healthy heaping of Brad Marchand.

“I’ve known Claude for a long time and I’ve been coaching teams against him for a long time too. To me, those comments that he made were ridiculous and I think he was very frustrated to have lost that game. Claude can concentrate on his team and I’ll concentrate on my own,” Therrien said Monday.

Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty had an idea what sparked Julien’s complaints.

“Jealousy,” offered Pacioretty, the NHL’s first star of the week. “We’re at the top right now and reading comments like that is awesome. If we’re in last place, they wouldn’t be saying anything about us, but we’re in first place and it’s the best feeling in the world.”

The Burins and Habs next face off on March 27 at TD Garden.
