Canucks forward Jack Skille could be out ‘a while’ after awkward hit

Watch as tensions boil over between the Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild after Jack Skille is injured in a hit along the boards by Charlie Coyle.

The Vancouver Canucks could be without Jack Skille for the next little while — which at this point means there’s a chance he’s done for the season.

In Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Wild, Skille was hit hard by Charlie Coyle and fell to the ice in pain. The hit was a text book shoulder-to-shoulder check and charging wasn’t a factor, but it appeared Skille either hit the boards or fell to the ice awkwardly, resulting in the injury.

Skille needed to be helped off the ice and did not return.

After the game, Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins said to not expect Skille in the lineup again for the next little while.

Skille, 29, has five goals and nine points for the Canucks this season. Vancouver has just eight games left in its season and have been eliminated from post-season contention.
