The Vancouver Canucks will be without forward Jannik Hansen for the next four to six weeks due to a fractured rib, the team announced Thursday.
Hansen has already missed the Canucks’ last two games, as he was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 7.
No details were given as to exactly how and when Hansen sustained the rib injury, but he was listed as having an injured shoulder following the Canucks’ loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night.
Hansen was on the receiving end of a huge mid-ice hit from Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly in the third period, and fought Nazem Kadri a few moments later in what quickly escalated into a heated end to the game.
The Canucks broke their nine-game losing streak without Hansen’s help on Tuesday, but his absence will certainly be noticed by the team going forward. The Danish winger saw top-line time and has been an important part of the penalty kill.
Hansen has two goals and four assists in 12 games this season.
