Canucks’ Pettersson headlines early Sweden roster for worlds

Vancouver Canucks rookie sensation Elias Pettersson headlines the first round of player commitments announced by Team Sweden on Friday ahead of the 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championship in May.

Other notable names aside from the leading Calder Trophy candidate include fellow Canucks Jacob Markstrom and Loui Eriksson, as well as New York Rangers star Henrik Lundqvist and defencemen Adam Larsson of the Edmonton Oilers and Oliver Ekman-Larsson of the Arizona Coyotes.

Sweden has won back-to-back gold medals at the tournament and will be looking to three-peat when the festivities get underway on May 10.
