The Vancouver Canucks have placed forward Elias Pettersson on injured reserve and recalled forward Adam Gaudette from the Utica Comets of the AHL ahead of the team’s game against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.

By placing Pettersson on IR, this frees up a spot on the Canucks roster for Gaudette while the Swedish rookie recovers from his knee injury. He was diagnosed with a minor MCL sprain and is expected to be out for the next one-to-two weeks.
Pettersson must remain on the injured-reserve list for a minimum of seven days, but it is backdated to the 2-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 3.
Gaudette, 22, has split his time between the Comets and Canucks this season. He’s posted two goals and four assists in 31 games.
