The Vancouver Canucks have claimed forward Dale Weise off waivers from the New York Rangers on Tuesday, Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos has confirmed.
Weise was placed on waivers Tuesday along with Sean Avery of the New York Rangers and Blair Betts of Philadelphia Flyers.
Drafted by the New York Rangers in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Weise spent last season with the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League, tallying 38 points in 47 games.
In 10 games with the Rangers last season, he recorded 19 penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating.
