Capitals’ Brooks Orpik leaves game after hit from Ryan White

Brooks Orpik would need help getting off the ice after he took a hard hit from Ryan White.

Washington Capitals defenceman Brooks Orpik left Game 3 against Philadelphia Monday night after taking a hard hit from Flyers forward Ryan White.

The Capitals were killing a penalty with about eight minutes left in the second period when White stepped into Orpik, who was trying to clear the puck out of the Washington zone. Orpik got pinched into the boards and had to be helped off the ice.

The 35-year-old missed 40 games earlier this season with a lower-body injury but still posted three goals and seven assists in the 41 games he did play.

He also missed eight games in December of 2013 after suffering a concussion when he was attacked by Shawn Thornton.
