The Washington Capitals will be without defenceman Brooks Orpik for the next four to six weeks, the team announced Tuesday.
Orpik, who hasn’t played since Oct. 27, underwent arthroscopic surgery to fix an issue in his right knee.
The 38-year-old has one goal and one assist while averaging 16:18 of ice-time in the 10 games he has played this season, his fifth in Washington.
Orpik was dealt to Colorado in the off-season as part of the Philipp Grubauer trade but he was immediately bought out and a month later signed back with the Capitals on a one-year, $1-million contract.
The Capitals have gone 5-4-1 without him in the lineup.
