Capitals’ Evgeny Kuznetsov leaves game vs. Jets with injury

Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov left Wednesday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets after sustaining an upper-body injury.

Kuznetsov left midway through the first period after being on the receiving end of a hit from Brandon Tanev that saw the Jets winger’s shoulder make contact with Kuznetsov’s head. Tanev was issued a two-minute penalty for an illegal check to the head.

Per the team, Kuznetsov will be re-evaluated on Thursday.

Kuznetsov has six goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 17 games so far this season.
