Capitals’ Kuznetsov leaves Game 2 with upper-body injury

Evgeny Kuznetsov would be in some pain and head to the bench after this hit from Brayed McNabb.

Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov left Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final Wednesday following a collision with Vegas Golden Knights defenceman Brayden McNabb in the first period.

Kuznetsov would not return to the game, but Washington managed to overcome his absence and defeat the Golden Knights 3-2 to level the series at one game apiece.

Kuznetsov leads all players in scoring during the playoffs with 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 20 games. The 26-year-old had an 11-game point streak entering Wednesday’s game.

There was no update on his status after the game.
