Capitals re-sign defenceman Colby Williams to one-year contract

The Washington Capitals have re-signed defenceman Colby Williams to a one-year, two-way contract the team announced Saturday.

The contract will pay the 24-year-old $700,000 at the NHL level and $90,000 at the AHL level. Williams was selected in the sixth round (173rd overall) by the Capitals in the 2015 NHL Draft.

In 36 games with the Hershey Bears of the AHL, Williams recorded 10 assists and in 165 career AHL games, the Regina, SK., native has seven goals and 36 assists.
