Capitals sign Damien Riat to entry-level contract

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Damien Riat to a two-year entry-level contract, the team announced Thursday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $817,500.

Riat, 23, was selected by the Capitals in the fourth round (117th overall) in the 2016 draft. The Geneva, Switzerland native is playing with EHC Biel-Bienne in the Swiss National League this season where he has 11 goals and 22 points in 36 games.

The six-foot, 180-pound forward has 50 goals and 106 points in the National League in 223 career games.
