Capitals sign John Albert to two-way contract

The Washington Capitals have signed forward John Albert to a one-year, two-way contract worth as much as $650,000.

Albert spent the past season with Karpat of the Finnish Liiga, scoring 12 goals and 24 points in 42 games.

He last played in the NHL for the Winnipeg Jets, registering his lone career NHL goal with the team in a nine-game stint in 2013-14.

The 28-year-old captained AHL Manitoba in 2015-16.

His contract with Washington comes with an AHL salary of $220,000.
