Capitals sign newly acquired Nick Jensen to four-year extension

The Washington Capitals have signed defenceman Nick Jensen to a four-year, $10-million extension hours after acquiring the blue-liner in a trade from the Detroit Red Wings.

Washington traded for Jensen and a fifth-round pick Friday afternoon in exchange for defenceman Madison Bowey and a second-rounder.

Jensen, 28, has two goals and 15 points in 60 games this season, averaging 20:48 minutes of ice time. The 2009 fifth-round pick is in the final year of a two-year, $1.625-million he signed in February 2017.
