Capitals sign Wayne Simpson to one-year, two-way contract

The Washington Capitals have signed right winger Wayne Simpson to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced on Tuesday.

The deal is worth $650,000 in the NHL and $140,000 in the AHL.

The 27-year-old Boxborough, Mass., native recorded 49 points in 76 games with the Providence Bruins this past season, setting AHL career highs in points, goals, assists and games played.
