Carter, Ward, Backstrom named NHL three stars of the week

Jeff Carter scored two goals and reached 600 points for his career as the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Anaheim Ducks.

NEW YORK – Los Angeles Kings centre Jeff Carter was named NHL first star of the week Monday after recording three game-winning goals last week.

Carter had four goals and two assists over the four-game stretch.

Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward was the second star and Washington Capitals centre Nicklas Backstrom was the third star.

Ward went 3-0-0 with a 1.01 goals-against average, one shutout and a .964 save percentage last week. Backstrom led all NHL players with eight points (4-4) in four games.
