The Charlotte Checkers completed a dramatic third-period comeback to beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-3 Wednesday night in American Hockey League action…but there was no one there to witness it.

Earlier in the day the Checkers announced the game would be be closed to the public due to inclement weather in the Charlotte area. Puck drop was bumped up from 7 p.m. ET to 5 p.m. and the game went on as planned.

It was a rather unique situation for the teams and players but the Checkers (the Carolina Hurricanes‘ AHL affiliate) and Sound Tigers (the New York Islanders‘ farm team) both deserve a huge stick tap for having some fun with it on social media.

Here’s a full game recap told via the magic of tweets.
