Alex Killorn’s squeaker that found its way past Henrik Lundqvist Friday night was hardly the kind of goal you would dream about to stand as a Game 7 winner.
While it’s not going to be remembered as one of the better highlights of the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs, Killorn’s ability around the net is one of the qualities that makes him “a winner,” in the eyes of Don Cherry.

“He is a dandy, I’ll tell you that right now,” Cherry said of Killorn. “He has seven game-winners (regular season and playoffs), he won the Calder Cup. This guy’s a winner.”
Killorn has established himself as a solid two-way presence in three seasons with the Lightning. The 25-year-old totalled 15 goals and 38 points in 71 games this past season while sporting an impressive 55 per cent Corsi for mark. Even when he’s not scoring, Killorn is helping push the puck in the right direction.
“He’s one of the reasons they’re doing so well,” Cherry said of the 2007 third-round draft pick. “He’s in front of the net, he’s a tough guy. He’s ready to go.”
Killorn has seven goals and 16 points in 20 games thus far in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
