Teams interested in Avalanche defenceman Tyson Barrie

Elliotte Friedman and Damien Cox discuss all the top headlines in the NHL, including concussion spotters, Colorado Avalanche trade rumours, and Martin Brodeur’s thoughts on changing the size of nets.

Rumours about the Colorado Avalanche potentially being open to trading Matt Duchene have been swirling this week, but he’s not the only player who is a candidate to be on the move.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, teams are waiting to see what the Avalanche decide to do with pending restricted free agent defenceman Tyson Barrie.

If Colorado can’t come to terms on a contract extension, hockey fans should expect to hear Barrie’s name out there in trade rumours because teams are interested.

Barrie, who played his 200th career NHL game Saturday, had nine assists in 13 games heading into the night’s action. The 24-year-old is considered one of the top young blueliners in the NHL coming off a 53-point campaign last year.
