It’s quite a luxury for a National Hockey League team to reach into its pool of players in the American Hockey League and summon an all-star to the big club.
The Arizona Coyotes recalled forward John Scott from the Springfield Falcons of the AHL Friday, the team announced via release.
Scott was among four NHL players voted by fans to captain a divisional squad at the 2016 NHL All-Star Game in Nashville, TN. His candidacy was bolstered by an enthusiastic social media effort.
Scott’s election to the All-Star Game has been the source of much debate on the fan voting process. The NHL is expected to make changes to the process for the 2016-17 season.
The 6-foot-8 left winger has one assist in 11 games with the Coyotes this season.
The Coyotes assigned defenceman Stefan Elliott to the Falcons in a corresponding move.
