GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Coyotes reinstated radio analyst Nick Boynton on Friday, two months after the former NHL defenceman was suspended following his arrest at a Buffalo, New York, casino.

Boynton pleaded guilty May 8 to disorderly conduct charges and agreed to perform 100 hours of community service as well as continue with alcohol counselling. Police said Boynton was abusive toward patrons and security personnel at the Buffalo Creek Casino, became belligerent and bit the hand of an officer trying to subdue him.

"I’ve met with Nick several times and he knows he made a terrible mistake," said Anthony LeBlanc, the Coyotes’ co-owner, president and CEO. "Nick is a good person and everyone deserves a second chance. He recently completed his alcohol counselling program and will now be reinstated as our radio colour analyst."

The 36-year-old Boynton played 11 seasons in the NHL with Boston, Arizona, Florida, Anaheim, Chicago and Philadelphia, winning a Stanley Cup title in 2010 with the Blackhawks.
