TORONTO — Phoenix Coyotes left-winger Scottie Upshall was suspended for two games by the NHL on Wednesday.

Upshall delivered an illegal hit on Flyers defenceman Oskars Bartulis in the second period of a 3-2 overtime win over Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

Upshall, who was assessed a minor penalty for boarding, will forfeit US$24,193.54 in salary. The unsuspecting Bartulis was injured on the play.

Bartulis is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury.

Upshall will be eligible to return for the Coyotes’ game at Chicago on Sunday.
