After missing the past three games with the mumps, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will return to the lineup Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche.

It was officially found out on Dec. 14 that Crosby had the illness, just a couple days after he was shown in an interview with a big lump on his cheek. The Penguins held him out of the lineup in their two weekend games against the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets as a precautionary measure before also missing Monday’s game against Tampa Bay.

Pittsburgh won two of three games with its captain out of the lineup.
The 27-year-old, two-time league MVP is second in the NHL in assists with 26 this season. He has also added nine goals in 27 games.
