The Edmonton Oilers got thrashed 5-1 by Ben Scrivens’ Montreal Canadiens Saturday and followed that up with an embarrassing 8-1 crushing at the hands of the New York Islanders Sunday in Brooklyn.

The easiest thing to do today would have been to trash the Oilers for having yet another awful season.

That’s why I’m defending them instead.
