Mike Danton timeline:

1991: Mike Danton (then Mike Jefferson) and his father, Steve, meet minor-league hockey coach David Frost.

1995-1996: Danton plays on the Quinte Hawks of the Metro Toronto Junior Hockey League. Frost is one of the coaches.

1997: Danton is drafted by the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League, but is traded to the St. Michael’s Majors that season.

1999: Danton, along with three others, is traded to the Barrie Colts, in part because of Frost’s interference with the team.

2000: Is drafted by New Jersey Devils in the fifth round of the NHL’s Entry Draft. He plays two games with the Devils the following season, but spends most of it with the Devils’ American Hockey League team, the Albany River Rats.

2001-02: Danton is suspended for the entire season for refusing to report to the River Rats.

2002: In July, Danton changes his last name from Jefferson.

2002-03: Plays 19 games with the Devils but is again suspended by the team for refusing to report to Albany. Danton serves legal papers to try to win his release from the team.

2003: Devils win the Stanley Cup but Danton does not play.

2003: The Devils traded Danton to the St. Louis Blues on June 21.

2003-04: Danton makes the Blues and plays 68 games during the regular season. He injures his shoulder near the end of the year, but returns for the playoffs.

2004: On April 14, Danton scores his first NHL playoff goal in a victory over the San Jose Sharks.

2004: On April 15, the Blues are eliminated from the playoffs after a loss to the Sharks.

2004: In the early hours of April 16, as the team prepares to board a flight to return to St. Louis, FBI agents arrest Danton for conspiracy to commit murder.

2004: Danton first pleads not guilty in a St. Louis court, then later changes his plea and is convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. Prosecutors say his target was David Frost.

2004: On Nov. 8, Danton is sentenced to 7½ years in prison in the U.S.

2009: Danton is granted a transfer to a Canadian prison on March 19.

2009: Danton is granted parole on Sept. 11.
