The 36-year-old centre suffered a second-degree right shoulder separation during the team’s first pre-season game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sept. 22. It was reported at the time of the injury that Datsyuk would miss four weeks of play.
Datsyuk raised hope when he was seen participating at practice, but fans will have to wait another few weeks until they see the franchise’s best player hit the ice during the regular season.
Datsyuk 2013-14 season was cut short due to various injuries, limiting his season to just 45 games.
